The intense Border Collie stare and crouch are such strong instincts, even at only 9 weeks of age.
These instincts are so strong and (along with the nipping) are the reason many Border Collies end up abandoned in rescue, simply because their owners do not understand and appropriately re-direct and correctly train their Border Collie. If you do not teach your Border Collie what is appropriate behaviour, his instincts will take control over him.
If you are considering adding a Border Collie to your family, please read some of the articles on http://www.dogsites.com.au to make sure you know what you are in for, because as wonderful as this breed is, they are certainly not for everyone!
